   they are great study tools.

   a flash card is pretty much just a piece of paper with a question on the front, and the answer on the back.
   you would make several of these with questions, symbols, or whatever you’re trying to learn, on one side, and what it is on the other.

   of course, you would look at one side, and try to recall whats on the other.

   i made flash cards for music.
   index cards is my ‘paper’ of preference because they are sturdy, and they can be carried around and handled easily.

   i made a couple of dozen or more. i had different musical notes in various positions on the bar.
   i would recall what kind of note it was–full, quarter, sixteenth…and its notation, be it a, d, c…then id turn the card over to see if i was correct.
   because of the ease of handling (just rubber band them together or put them in a little pouch) and durability, i took them everywhere i went. when standing in line at the market, on the bus, waiting in the doctors office…id whip them out–and study.

   worked so well!
   i still remember a lot–and that was many years ago!
