This segment shows the very basics of what you need to have in order to capture decent sound in your videos. Usually, I focus on 'low cost' or 'no cost' solutions, but in this clip, I suggest spending some money. Sound is the most important part of video. Great video and crappy sound is an awful experience to sit through. Good video with great sound is a much more satisfying experience for an audience. Getting good sound isn't something where a trip to a hardware store gets you some cheap 'good enough' gear. To get good sound, your going to have to invest in some low-end professional-quality audio gear. Building a home studio is a never ending process. You find the weakest link in your set up, and get something much better. After a few weeks of playing around with your shiny new gear, a new weakest link in your set-up appears, and its back to square one. Each step along the way becomes more expensive than the last, but is subject to the law of diminishing returns. Knowing where to put your dollars to get the most out each purchase is the secret to having an affordable yet good-enough studio. Build your studio slowly, one step at a time, and move up as finances/skills allow. This is the order I acquired my gear, from 1st to my most recent purchase. and I think its a good general order to go. You will need: Good Headphones: to hear what stuff really sounds like.
