My teacher in MAPEH wants us to make christmas cards..how would it look like???

Someone obtained my credit card number and used it to make 5-7 small purchase (less than ) online. I'm guessing they were making these small purchases to see if they could use it for a much larger purchase later, but of course I don't know for sure. My credit card company called me after noticing these small purchases to see if I was making them and then we cancelled the card. Anyway, several of the receipts showed up in my personal gmail account. The Ship To address was my home address and they used my home phone number. (as a note: I did not lose my credit card. They somehow obtained my info w/out my knowledge. I don't think it was through malware or a phishing attack. I'm guessing someone obtained my info through someone's online database which stored my info after an online purchase. Also, i keep the card with me at all times and my kids are too young to know how to make a purchase. The purchases were made at 4am on Sunday when we were all in bed.)
Any thoughts as to why would they use my home address/home phone when making these purchases and why they would use my personal email address? I can't figure this out. Wouldn't they know this would tip me off? (Maybe they test tons of cards looking for ones they can use like this w/out someone noticing?) I mean the receipts are being sent to my email address. And, had we not canceled the card, some of the merchandise would have been shipped to my house.
